Thermococcus litoralis tends to reproduce best in temperatures between 85 and 88 °C [1].Unlike most hyperthermophilic archaea, Thermococcus litoralis does not require sulphur to grow[2].

Industrial use

Thermococcus litoralis is used as a source of the enzyme DNA polymerase.[1]
